Drug Allergy: Clinical Aspects, Diagnosis, Mechanisms, Structure-Activity Relationships 2013th Edition
by Brian A. Baldo (Author), Nghia H. Pham (Author)
The variety of chemically diverse pharmacological agents administered to patients is large and continues to expand and with every new drug released, there is always potential for adverse reactions, some of them allergic. With its roots in immunology and pharmacology, the science of drug allergy is becoming better understood and applied as its importance is increasingly recognized throughout the many branches of medicine. Drug Allergy: Clinical Aspects, Diagnosis, Mechanisms, Structure-Activity Relationships sheds new light on this field. Comprehensive in design, this authoritative title identifies the most important culprit drugs implicated in immediate and delayed drug hypersensitivities and offers up-to-date information on classifications, diagnoses, underlying mechanisms and structure-activity relationships. Chapters dealing with the molecular and cellular mechanisms of drug hypersensitivities, non-immune-mediated sensitivities and diagnostic methods are presented as introductory material for in-depth treatises on the β-lactam antibiotics, other antibiotics and antimicrobials, drugs used in anesthesia and surgery, opioid analgesics, corticosteroids, monoclonal antibodies and other biologics, drugs used in chemotherapy, proton pump inhibitors, iodinated and gadolinium-based contrast media and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. In addition to being of immense value to clinicians, other health care professionals and researchers, this title will prove invaluable for those taking undergraduate and graduate courses in science and will also serve as a useful text for students of medicine, pharmacy, nursing and dentistry.

“This revised edition is better designed and presented with clearer summaries, stronger sets of important terms and extensive further reading lists teachers and students trying to gain an idea of the changes are unlikely to find a better place to start. An accompanying reader, Sociology: Introductory Readings, and an Instructor’s Manual written by Eric Harrison and Sue Hemmings (which is issued free to those who adopt Sociology) strengthen the central text further and clearly increase its classroom usefulness. [The books] encourage an active approach to sociology and innovative teaching and will be welcomed by all who want to make the study of sociology, in Giddens’s phrase, ‘a liberating experience’ and, no doubt, an enjoyable one too.” The Times Educational Supplement
“At last, here it is: the introduction to sociology that shows that the discipline can be both exciting and rewarding. A brilliant work.” Ulrich Beck
“This classic textbook clarifies and classifies much of end-of-millennium sociology but also illustrates some of the emerging issues that will affect us all beyond 2000. It will be the student’s standby, the lecturer’s crib and, I suspect, a tempting window on a new world of ideas for partners and parents.” Ray Pahl, Emeritus Professor at the University of Kent at Canterbury and Visiting Professor at the University of Essex
“Giddens never stops looking for improvements, and sociology has to reflect the increasing pace of social change. The result is a much revised third edition of his Sociology. Lecturers will recognize the immense skill in his crafting of a text from the most recent research, while students will appreciate how he writes directly for them. This textbook is a superbly constructed bridge between the academic discipline and what is happening in the modern world.” Professor Martin Albrow, Roehampton Institute London
“This substantially revised edition is not only a joy to read but to look at. The introduction of well-chosen pictures brings additional poignancy to this impressive sociology text.” Barbara Adam, University of Wales, Cardiff
“It is difficult to imagine social-scientific thought and practice in Britain and much of Continental Europe without the distinctive contribution of Anthony Giddens. His prolific work has the unique merit of tying together the rich tradition of modern social thought with the challenges of whatever is new and unprecedented in what he has called the “late modern” or “post-traditional” world.” Times Literary Supplement
“Not only is this a book written by our most eminent colleague, it has become the world-wide best-seller of its ilk. Giddens of course, is not just an exceptional teacher, he is also an exceptional theorist. In the preface to the 3rd edition, the author hopes for a ‘state-of-the-art introductory text’ and he has delivered just that … the new book is a treasure-trove of figures, pictures, charts and cartoons which make it a pleasure to read and irresistable to dip into.” BSA Network
‘One of the classic A-level texts. Giddens has a well-developed, almost conversational, style that stands out amongst the older style of textbook … Its strength is Giddens’ obvious enthusiasm for Sociology and his ability to write clearly and knowledgeably about his subject. Unlike most texts at this level, Giddens’ always strikes me as someone who has written a textbook because he wants to communicate his interest to the reader, not because there’s a syllabus to be covered.’ Sociology Central

درباره ایبوک Sociology 3rd Edition
This book is written at a level accessible to everyone and concentrates upon gaining the interest of the reader. The author, a sociologist of international repute, has brought his experience to bear upon producing an innovative text. All the conventional areas of sociology are covered, but the author gives special attention to the new developments in the subject which have occurred during the late 1970s and 1980s. Notable features of the book are a stress upon the recovery of a historical perspective in sociology, emphasis upon the significance of global developments in social life, and systematic discussion of areas of analysis usually absent from textbooks in the subject, such as military power and war, or communications and the mass media. The book also strongly emphasizes a comparative perspective. `Sociology’ is thoroughly up-to-date in terms of exhaustive references to current empirical materials. It is suitable for all A level students, first-year college FE students and undergraduates looking for an accessible, well-researched and up-to-date text, written with style and flair.

Sufism in Central Asia (Handbook of Oriental Studies: Section Eight Uralic and Central Asian Studies / Handbuch der Orientalistik)
by Bronwen Neil (Author)
Series: Handbook of Oriental Studies: Section Eight Uralic and Central Asian Studies / Handbuch der Orientalistik (Book 25)
درباره ایبوک Sufism in Central Asia Handbook of Oriental Studies
Sufism in Central Asia: New Perspectives on Sufi Traditions, 15th-21st Centuries brings together ten original studies on historical aspects of Sufism in this region. A central question, of ongoing significance, underlies each contribution: what is the relationship between Sufism as it was manifested in this region prior to the Russian conquest and the Soviet era, on the one hand, and the features of Islamic religious life in the region during the Tsarist, Soviet, and post-Soviet eras on the other? The authors address multiple aspects of Central Asian religious life rooted in Sufism, examining interpretative strategies, realignments in Sufi communities and sources from the Russian to the post-Soviet period, and social, political and economic perspectives on Sufi communities.
Contributors include: Shahzad Bashir, Devin DeWeese, Allen Frank, Jo-Ann Gross, Kawahara Yayoi, Robert McChesney, Ashirbek Muminov, Maria Subtelny, Eren Tasar, and Waleed Ziad.

درباره ایبوک Resource Allocation for Wireless Networks: Basics, Techniques, and Applications
Merging the fundamental principles of resource allocation with the state-of-the-art in research and application examples, Han and Liu present a novel and comprehensive perspective for improving wireless systems performance. Cross-layer multiuser optimization in wireless networks is described systematically. Starting from the basic principles, such as power control and multiple access, coverage moves to the optimization techniques for resource allocation, including formulation and analysis, and game theory. Advanced topics such as dynamic resource allocation and resource allocation in antenna array processing, and in cooperative, sensor, personal area, and ultrawideband networks, are then discussed. Unique in its scope, timeliness, and innovative author insights, this invaluable work will help graduate students and researchers to understand the basics of wireless resource allocation whilst highlighting modern research topics, and will help industrial engineers to improve system optimization.
