        The Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook provides assistance to professionals engaged in the design of reinforced concrete buildings and related structures. This edition is a major revision that brings it up-to-date with the approach and provisions of Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete (ACI 318M-14). The layout and look of the Handbook have also been updated.

        The Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook now provides dozens of design examples of various reinforced concrete members, such as one- and two-way slabs, beams, columns, walls, diaphragms, footings, and retaining walls. For consistency, many of the numerical examples are based on a fictitious seven-story reinforced concrete building. There are also many additional design examples not related to the design of the members in the seven story building that illustrate various ACI 318M-14 requirements.

        Each example starts with a problem statement, then provides a design solution in a three column format—code provision reference, short discussion, and design calculations— followed by a drawing of reinforcing details, and finally a conclusion elaborating on a certain condition or comparing results of similar problem solutions.

        In addition to examples, almost all chapters in the Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook contain a general discussion of the related ACI 318M-14 chapter.

Johnston, North Carolina State University, is a major revision of the document to bring it up-to-date with “Guide to Formwork for Concrete (ACI 347R-14).” Revisions include referencing current standards and practices, removing outdated or irrelevant material, adding content on new developments in formwork technology and practice, and updating the look and layout of the document.

        This edition considers the updated lateral pressure and other provisions now provided by ACI 347R-14. Expanded coverage is provided in SP-4 for wind loads on formwork specialized from ASCE/SEI 7-10 as modified by ASCE/SEI 37-14. The design of formwork has been divided into two chapters, one focusing on bending, shear, and deflection of wall, slab, and column formwork members, and a second focusing on shoring and bracing members. Bridge formwork considerations have been moved into a separate chapter. A new chapter summarizing the recommendations of ACI 347.3R-13, “Guide to Formed Concrete Surfaces,” has been added.

        [موسسه بتن آمریکا](به انگلیسی: American Concrete Institute) که به اختصار اِی‌سی‌آی گفته می‌شود یکی از معتبرترین موسسات علمی تکنیکی جهانی است. این مؤسسه در سال ۱۹۰۴ در آمریکا تأسیس شد و در حال حاضر یکصد و پنجمین سال از عمر خود را سپری نموده‌است. مؤسسه مذکور با هدف آموزش و یادگیری دانش مهندسی، تحقیقات علمی، پژوهش و توسعه استانداردهای طراحی و اجرای سازه‌های بتنی، بتنی مسلح، مواد و مصالح مربوطه در سطح جهان فعالیت می‌کند. که با مرور زمان با کوشش‌های علمی و آموزشی فراوان و مؤثر مورد توجه جوامع مهندسی عمران در کشورهای مختلف جهان قرار گرفته‌است. هم اکنون مؤسسه بین‌المللی بتن آمریکا (ACI) بیش از ۱۰۸ شاخه در سراسر دنیا دارد و در راستای ترویج علم هر ماه اقدام به انتشار نشریات و خبرنامه‌ها و ژورنال‌های علمی پژوهشی گوناگون می‌نماید.
